Debrecen is the second-largest city in Hungary with a population of approximately 300,000 residents. This historic university was founded in 1538, with the Medical Faculty of the University situated in the city centre, offering degrees in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Szeged is the third-largest city in Hungary and is located in the south of the country. The University of Szeged is one of Hungary’s leading universities, with the Faculty of Medicine, Laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi, being named after the former Dean and Nobel laureate. The English-language medical degree program in Szeged started in 1985. Currently there are approximately 1,000 students studying the degree, with the Medicine course lasting six years, and Dentistry and Pharmacology each lasting five years. Founded in 1367, the University of Pécs is one of the oldest largest academic institutions offering medical degrees in Hungary, and it gives students an enormous variety of study opportunities. The Faculty of Medicine was founded more than 100 years ago, and educates students in the subjects of General Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacology. English-language medical degree programs in Hungary have been available at the University of Pécs since 1985, and the Pécs medical school is part of a large network of international research institutions, partnerships and university networks.
